Gary Monroe Domeny
Gary Monroe Domeny passed away Feb. 11, 2009, at his home in Horseshoe Bend, after a courageous fight with cancer. He is survived by his daughters, Micki, Keli and Diana; his son, Jim; sisters, Donetta and Saundra; and several grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Gary was born in Ft. Morgan, Colo. on May 11, 1937, to Ruth and Clyde Domeny. He attended Nampa and Boise High Schools and then joined the Army to travel the world. While in the military Gary served in Vietnam, Korea, Germany, and several states in the U.S. After being honorably discharged in 1980, Gary returned to Boise with his family and went to work for the State of Idaho as an investigator for the Board of Pharmacy. When he retired from the State, Gary chose a warmer climate and moved to Lake Havasu, Ariz. where he played a lot of golf; his favorite pass time. Gary had a love for music, which he shared with his family at home and on long road trips. Several hours were spent singing and having a great time on summer vacations; be it in the car or around a camp fire. Gary loved to pull out his guitar and start singing. He enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, motorcycles, cards, reading (especially a good western, biography, or an intriguing mystery), and his little dog, Thumper, who gave him much happiness through his pain. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. at Summers Funeral Home, downtown Boise location, with viewing 30 minutes prior to service time. Gary will be buried with full military honors at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, off Hill Road, at 1p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009. Gary was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammie, his son, Steven, and his mother and father, Ruth and Clyde Domeny.
