15 Months!

Our little boy is not so little any more! The other day after church we took him outside on his fire engine to let him ride around which he loves to do. We got a few pics but it was really cold in the shade so we hurried and went back inside. I love his wild hair! It is different every day and after every nap! I love the curls though. They are too cute!
Jacoby is every where now. He walks, runs, jumps and climbs on everything and every one.
He does not like to stay home and just hang out so we keep ourselves very busy with swim, library class, music class, visits to the park and lots and lots of walks and runs.
He is still a great eater and will eat any thing. Some times he doesn't like it but he is willing to try anything and usually likes it. He doesn't like anything that looks like baby food though. He is a big boy and wants to eat exactly what we are eating.
He started taking one nap around 14 months of age. He is usually a pretty good napper and we usually get 2 hours out of him.
We took him to the doctor last week and we finally hit the 10% in weight! I was so excited!! He weighs 21 lb. 3 oz. now.
Jacoby is talking up a storm!! Last week after our doctor's appointment we sat down and made a list of all the words Jacoby uses on a regular bases and knows what they mean, since he will just copy everything that you ask him to these days without really knowing what they are, he is up to 36!
He is getting stronger and stronger opinions every day and will let you know about it.
He still is a mama's boy and can't get enough of me. Sucks on my hair, plays with my hair, kisses me all day long and loves to still cuddle with his mama! I am so glad I have a cuddle bug because they are my favorite moments with my sweet baby.
We love you so much Jacobes!

Valentine's Day cookies!

Does anyone know how to change my blog settings so my pics don't load all crazy like this and my writing can be under my pics? It has been driving me crazy and I can't figure it out! It has been like this since we got our new computer so I don't know what the deal is????

Every year for Valentine's Day for as long as I remember we make heart shaped crisp sugar cookies with pink frosting. Every year! The recipe is my great Grandma's and every time I make them I can't help but think of her and how much she loved the color pink!

Jacoby loves helping in the kitchen! It is one of his favorite things to do. He loves to watch the mixer go round and round and throw things in the hole. When he sees the mixer or blender or any other kitchen appliance that makes noise, he points at it and then makes the noise. So funny!
After we made the dough, we rolled it out on our table just out of his reach on purpose but the little stinker figured out if he put his toes on the bar he could reach just a little bit further and get his fingers in the dough. There was all of these cute fingerprints in the dough.

Jacoby's first bite of a crisp sugar cookie with pink frosting! I love continuing all of my traditions with Jacoby. It brings back so many great memories for me of my childhood and I hope it will for him some day too!

It's Official!!

I have the worst sleeper EVER!!!! My baby does not want to sleep during the night. He would rather wake us up, bounce on my head, pull up my shirt, give big kisses, blow raspberries, sing his favorite song, pretty much anything that he can do to distract himself from sleeping!
He is currently cutting 4 more teeth and sleeping is a rarity in my house! It's so funny I read all these blogs that say that their children sleep through the night and I know a lot of them do but here's to all of us sleep deprived parents...... our children are the normal ones! Just ask your parents!
I get so tired of feeling like Jacoby is abnormal because he doesn't sleep through the night and I get so frustrated that all the information out there makes you feel like it is something that you are doing wrong. My baby is happy, healthy and according to our doctor this week more advanced than most 2 years old so I am going to chalk it up to the fact that we must be doing something right and stop beating myself up that he is still not sleeping through the night.
There comes a point that I think for the sanity in my house I need to stop being so concerned about his sleep and accept the fact that my child will eventually sleep through the night. So yes, I am throwing in the towel and accepting the fact that we probably have a few more very long nights in my future.

Our Little Cub Fan

I am so excited that this infant size Cubs hat finally fits Jacobes small head- yep, 10% in head size! He loves hats and he is the cutest Cubs fan I know!!

A Little Cabin Fever

What do you do when you have a very sick baby and have to stay home for over a week? Play dress up of course!
Jacoby loves to put on my hat and take this bag and put everything he can find in it and then take everything out of it. It was hours of entertainment for my sick baby!

Just a day at the park

You know you live in a climate that is too cold when on a day that hits 30 you think you are in a heat wave and head to the the park! Linds and I took the kids out during a heat wave and I brought along my new camera that I am so excited about! I haven't gotten to use it too much yet and I was so excited for an opportunity to pull it out.

The swings were the big hit with these two last year and we could put them in the swing and the would swing forever. Not so much this year! It only lasts for a few minutes and Jacoby's saying "all done" and wants to get down.

These two are just too cute! Such good looking babies!

He would rather lay on the beam dig in the snow with his gloves, put the snow on the beam and then lick it. Yep, that right lick it! He is all boy!! He stayed like this for a long time. He was really enjoying eating the snow.

Proud to be Organic!!

I have been wanting to see the movie "Food, inc." for a very long time! I watched the show on Oprah about it and yes even texted most of you to tell you to watch as well since Oprah is on at 9 am here. Well I finally got around to it this weekend and it was well worth the wait!

What an interesting movie! I feel like I am very well informed about the food I eat but I learned so much and Jarod and I kept having to rewind the movie back again to make sure that we heard the information correctly- Fascinating!

It was late by the time we finished the movie and Jacoby was up with us so we didn't talk about it much that night but the next day we had a lengthy conversation. Food is something I am very passionate about. I love to eat it but not really prepare it- but that's a different story- but mostly I am passionate about eating organic. A few years ago, Jarod was getting kidney stone after kidney stone and I was getting migraine after migraine. After some research I decided that why not try to change our diet and see if that helped. We started out slow making the switch to organic. We tried to just do low sodium but soon discovered that it is much easier to go low sodium if you go organic. We finally took the plunge about 3 1/2 years ago and I have only had two migraines, very mild ones, since then and Jarod knock on wood hasn't had a kidney stone. I swear to you it is the organic food that we eat!
After seeing the movie it made more even more sense to me why eating organic would help out our health as much as it does. Did you know 70% of the US meat has been soaked in ammonia and has an ammonia made compound that has been added in with our meat? It's added in to help kill ecoli and the reason we have had such an outbreak in ecoli is because they are feeding cows corn. Cows were not made to eat corn, they were made to eat grass and the ecoli is a bacteria that is taking over in cows because they are eating what they are not suppose to eat and their bodies can't keep up. AMAZING!
Did you know that chickens grow twice as fast as they did in 1970 because of the antibiotics they are given and that their genetic make up has been completely altered to the point that most chickens cannot even walk because they have been made to carry that much more white meat? Not to mention the antibiotics we are getting in our meat is making us immune to antibiotics that we need when we are sick!!
Those are just a few things this movie covers and I was glued! You really are what you eat and I think that we should be more careful what we are putting in our bodies!!! We were only given one and we need to take good care of it.
Ok, I will get off my soap box now but seriously if you get the chance watch the movie!

Red Race Car

Jacoby loves his cousin Michael! When he wasn't with Michael he was standing at the top of the stairs yelling "Mic, Mic" trying to get his attention. Of all the things that they did together while they were home this was the highlight! Michael was so excited to show Jacoby his red race car and Jacoby was so excited to go for a ride.
First we had to catch Michael.

Then the dogs ran behind them.

We had a few crashes complete with giggling and dog kisses!

I kept trying to take pictures and they would go by me so fast with Michael yelling "faster, faster" which sounds like B*stard! Hysterical and don't think we make him say that all the time!

They went cruising up and down the hill with Jacoby's hair blowing in the wind.

They had a blast and it was so much fun watching them! I was a little concerned that Jacoby would have whiplash but he seemed to be just fine.

Ashlee's Shower

When I was home we threw a baby shower for Ash. I was so excited to have a pink shower after all our boys and we had lots of fun! My camera decided to die right before the shower so here's the pics I got from the shower. I love this white washed picture that my camera took right before it died. I think it is so cool! And those are the cute cupcakes that Michael and I made for the shower. I was so proud of myself!
If you want to see more pics of the shower and pics of what my sister got or what my mom has been making for her- click on her blog over to the left- Ashlee and Brandon Anderson.
We are so excited for this little girl to get here! Only a few more weeks to go!

My Nephews

I love these boys!! They are so cute and hysterical! I love when Jacoby and I get to go home and see them. He LOVES his cousins! He loves to follow Michael around and copy everything that Boden does. They are so good to him and Michael calls him "Coby" and Boden calls him "Baby".

Poor Baby Boy!

I am skipping way ahead because my mom wants to see what Jacoby's little sores look like!
My poor baby has been so sick lately! He is doing much better today but on Friday night he came down with a temp of 102.7 and on Friday morning when we were at the doctors office these beautiful sores showed up. Poor Jacoby has hand, foot and mouth disease!! It's horrible and he has it really bad! He has sores all the way down his throat, in his mouth and up his arms and legs. He has not been able to eat or drink and we have been getting by on ice cream and breast milk. Thank goodness I am still nursing him or I am sure it would have been a lot worse!
I feel so bad for him but the good news is that today he is starting to act much more like himself!
