Baby Benson is Here!!!

Elisha and Rob welcomed their new little boy on Tuesday, January 20. Brayden Michael Benson weighed in at 6 lb. 5 0z and 18 inches long!! We are so excited that he was that big because they kept telling Rob and Elish that he was going to be tiny.
I have spoke to Elish a few times and they are doing great! She is a rock star though because she went so fast once they broke her water they were not able to give her an epidural. I can't even imagine!! Better her than me :). According to Elish they are not sure who the little guy looks like but Jarod thinks he looks like Elish from the pictures. I am still not too sure. I need to see more pictures.
We are so excited for them and can't wait to introduce our boys in March and watch them grow up together!!!

6 Weeks Old

Jacoby is getting bigger and bigger everyday. He is such a sweetie and is pretty dang cute if I do say so myself. We have a couple of big weeks coming up for this little guy. His Grandma and Grandpa Jostes and Uncle Collin are coming to meet him tomorrow. Next week he will be taking his first airplane trip to Boise. We had to wait until he was six weeks old to fly with him but I am so excited to take him home! I can't wait to have him meet his Paka (my dad) along with the rest of the fam!!

Nothing beats a Sunday afternoon nap with the best cuddler! He is so funny when he is trying to get comfortable, he will maneuver you and him to the perfect position before he sighs and snuggles in.
He was mighty comfy in this spot! Jacoby is actually a pretty good sleeper. We usually put him down between 11-12, he gets up between 4-5 and again between 7-8. Not too bad!
Look at those skinny legs. He is getting really long and his face has filled out more but we still don't have very much meat on those leggies.
He loves spending time on his tummy! Jake is so strong and already does pretty good controlling his neck. At a week old in the middle of the night I looked in the bassinet and this little guy was on his tummy. I woke up Jarod to ask why in the world he had put him on his tummy but he hadn't Jake was on his side and he had turned over on his own. Since then he has done it two more times during tummy time but he is not meaning to do it yet and we can wait a little while for that :)
The last time we got to wear these newborn jammies. It's official I can no longer squeeze him into the newborn jammies at 6 weeks but he is way too small for 0-3. He grew out of his newborn diapers at 3 1/2 weeks as well. He is getting so big!
Look at me holding up my head! Those big blue eyes melt me every time! They are exactly the same color as Jarod's right now.
Daddy rushes home from work everyday to see us! Last week was my first week by myself and we survived! Dad had a hard time going back to work and school after having the last month off though. We miss him when he isn't here!
Jacoby is starting to make the funniest faces! He smiled at us for the first time on Monday morning so two days shy of six weeks. I was changing his diaper and was singing to him, he had the cutest smile for me! I was so excited that I didn't even do up his jammies before I took him into his dad's office to tell him the news. As we were telling Jarod he smiled at his daddy as well! So we both got one that morning!
He is doing this funny thing with his eyebrows now. Not sure what it means but it looks like he is about to cry but he doesn't. I think it is the "are you serious mom" look or "stop kissing me please" look.

Just Like My Mommy

When I am really tired or when I am asleep I do this funny thing with my hands. It drives me crazy to have my thumbs hanging out so I tuck them between my pointer finger and middle finger when I sleep. Jarod always knows when I am getting tired because without even knowing it I tuck my thumbs. When we were in the hospital we noticed that Jacoby does the same thing!!
Here he is getting ready to fall asleep.
His thumb isn't quite long enough for you to see it poke out the top like mine, but if you look in there sure enough he has it in the same place I put my thumb. Isn't that carzy!! I think it is so cute!

Here are a few shots just to remember how little he is. He is growing up so fast!!

Giving Kisses

I love these pictures of Jake giving Jarod kisses!

4 Weeks Old Already!

I can't believe that Jacoby is already 4 weeks old! It has gone by so fast it is scary. He is so precious! We love him so much.

He loves his bath time! He is so content in the bath and really enjoys the water. I hope that is something that stays since I am such a water lover.

We are still working on the whole nursing thing but we have came a long way! It is a lot harder than I thought it was going to be but as you can see from these cheeks I don't think he is starving.

Jacoby gets the hiccups seriously 8-9 times a day. He did when I was pregnant with him as well but the poor little guy gets really frusturated when he is trying to eat or sleep with the hiccups.
He is such a blessing and we are so glad that he is ours!

Jacoby's First Christmas

We had the best Christmas with our little guy! This was the first year that Jarod and I have not been traveling some where since I graduated from high school. I think we picked the best year not to travel given the craziness across the country, especially trying to get out of Chicago. We also had our first tree since we have been married. It was fun to bring Jacoby home to a decorated home.
Every year for Christmas, my mom gives us all new pajamas. I was SO excited that Jacoby got his first pair of Christmas pajamas this year! They were so cute on him! Thanks Mamma!!
Christmas Eve we got Jake all dressed up in his PJ's.

Then Mommy and Daddy took turns holding him and Dad read him books and I sang him Christmas carols. He liked Jingle Bells and Silent Night (actually I have no idea but those are the ones that I like and can remember the words to in the middle of the night!)
Christmas morning we woke up and opened his present from Mamma. Unfortunately, Santa didn't come to our house this year. That would have required us to leave the house and it is too cold to take a baby out!! But Jacoby is getting his baby jogger for Christmas. Not sure who is more excited about that me or him. Jake also got his first baseball mit from Uncle Collin.
We were so excited to get new books from Mamma! We love to read books. Later that day, Jarod made us a wonderful Christmas dinner and we hung out staring, cuddling and kissing on Jacoby. It was the best Christmas!!
