Stephen Fife

The other night we got to do the coolest thing ever!  One of the families that Jarod grew up with have a son named Stephen who Jarod has known since he was a baby and Stephen is not so little any more.  Actually, he started as the Dodgers starting pitcher against the Reds and we went to the game to watch him.  It was so cool!
We knew that he had been called up a few weeks ago because Jarod has been following him and we listened to his first start as a major league baseball player.  We made the comment then that we hoped he would still be up in the majors for their next trip to Cincinnati and sure enough he was.
All day long, Jarod and him were texting back and forth and Jarod kept saying, "I just got a text from the Dodger's starting pitcher, how cool is that!".  Jarod's dream has always been to be a major league baseball player and this was as close as we have ever been.
We went to the game in our Dodger blue and watched him pitch behind home plate.  It was so cool!  Stephen did great but the Reds one and happened to clinch their division that night so it was a really cool atmosphere to be in.  Minus the fireworks, Jace is not a fan at all.  It didn't help that I he was trying to fall asleep and was nursing when they went off.  He freaked out and then would latch back on and then another one would go off and he would cry again.  Poor baby!  We were right next to them and I had even moved so we wouldn't be but they decided to shoot them off another barge.
After the game, we went and met up with the Dodger's starting pitcher at his hotel.  We visited for a long time.  It was so cool to hear how it is in the club house and what it is like pitching in the majors.  But the best part was Stephen was still the nicest kid from Boise and Jarod and him joked that they were just two Borah quarterbacks hanging out.
